This film reminded me of the problems that bloody messes that my boyfriend's job creates in the course of their daily work. "This is a scary film! I work as a nurse in a NYC hospital where I often have to clean up bloody messes. Above all it must be contained, before it escapes to wreak havoc on the unsuspecting world outside. What they find inside lies beyond the scope of medical science-a demonic nightmare of biblical proportions more terrifying than they could have possibly imagined. A heavily armed SWAT team and a mysterious government official are sent in to assess and attempt to neutralize the situation.
They're thrust in a world where all order suddenly goes out the window, so in return I don't expect lawfulness in having an explanation neatly tied up.The highly anticipated sequel to one of the scariest films of all time, 2 picks up 15 minutes from where we left off, taking us back into the quarantined apartment building where a terrifying virus has run rampant, turning the occupants into mindlessly violent, raging beasts. Survivors who probably have to care more about trying to survive than to get a satisfying explanation for what is happening. Instead the good ones focus on the survivors normal people who have no clue what's going on other that the dead are suddenly coming back and killing people. If there is an explanation, it shouldn't be the driving force of the story (Max Brooks has his solarium all figured out, but that wasn't what WWZ was about). The good ones never explain if it is a virus, a curse, radiation from a commet or if hell is just full. The ones that do try to explain them usually tend to rank low on my list for the genre (Return of the Living Dead series, the Resident Evil films, 28 Days Later if that counts as a zombie movie). To be honest I didn't even know there was a Rec2, so I guess I'll have to start looking for it.īut I will add that Zombie movies shouldn't need to go into the cause of the epidemic at all. Overall there are very few movies that can win me over on concepts like this, but it surprisingly worked.

Also I liked how it played fully into the religious/possession aspect it felt like it was going back to old Vampire lore or for those familiar with the series Hellsing, it kind of felt like that. This film manages to do so without really long drawn out exposition. What turned me was the fact that most zombie films don't commit to a true cause of the epidemic, also even if they do they never try to explain it more in detail. I held this opinion until about half way through the movie, when they have the flaming blood and the secret agent priest. I have to say though the religious angle purposed at the end had me a little weary of the premise, and kind of left me feeling a bit skeptical of the sequels. I really enjoyed the first movie, even though it did have huge gaps in character logic at time, I still found it a really intense and especially at the end downright frightening. Note: I post this for people who have seen the film, I will be discussing potential spoilers so don't be a whiny bitch about them.
